Case Study: FA/FAS Series in ATMs

The application
ATMs depend on regular periodic maintenance of the internal bill transport unit, which means the connectors inside get attached and detached repeatedly over the machine’s life.
The problems
Two issues came with that maintenance cycle. Repeated attachment and detachment risked connector contact failure over time. And because the space inside the machine is narrow and the connector is hard to see, the attach-and-detach work itself was difficult and slow, driving up working time, cost, and the chance of malfunction.
How the FA / FAS series solves it
The FA / FAS series addresses the “narrow, invisible, and misaligned” problem from a structural standpoint:
• A mating guide function with a guiding mechanism allows smooth connection even in blind, hard-to-see locations.
• A floating mechanism absorbs mating misalignment.
• Effective mating length is sufficiently long to secure contact reliability and long-term stability.
• Two-point contact ensures connection reliability.
• Insertion and withdrawal durability of up to 7,000 times, depending on specification and combination.
The result
After adopting the FA / FAS series:
• Contact-failure troubles were significantly reduced.
• The load on workers during installation and removal was reduced, and maintenance time was shortened.
• Field workers rated it highly. As one maintenance technician put it, even when the connector can’t be seen, they can rely on it with confidence.
